Timeline 2007 and 2008

Oscar's parents have a tradition of going on "minimoons" on their anniversary, a small trip instead of a full blown honeymoon. Oscar and I have decided to keep up this tradition, though several of our trips have actually been longer and more expensive than our actual honeymoon was. Neither Oscar or I had ever been to Canada, and from where we live now it was only about 2 hours away. We spent our first anniversary having fun in Vancouver.

That May we took a trip down to Utah to see Oscar's sister Emily get married in the Logan Temple. Our kittens grew up and became cats far too quickly, but at least they're still cute.

My friend Amy came out to visit me in August. She'd never been to Vancouver either, so I took her up for another trip to Canada in addition to all the fun we had hanging around Seattle. Click here to read more about Amy's visit.

We spent a lot of our time that year working extra hours to pay off Oscar's ridiculous school loans from ITT tech. He felt dissatisfied with the education he received there, and decided to drop out of higher education for a year. Unfortunately, they hadn't been clear to us on just how much money his tuition cost, and we were shocked to learn that his 3 classes came to over $12,000! We managed to pay it all off by September of that year, and since we'd spent so much money on something totally useless, we decided to also spend lots of money on doing something fun and memorable. Oscar had never been to Hawaii, so we took a trip to the Big Island with my family's time share points.

Mom and Kathy came with us, but couldn't quite keep up with our drive for adventure.

Since we had to fly in and out of Oahu anyway, we spent a few days there seeing Waikiki and Honolulu, hiking Diamond Head, and going to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

That fall I went back to school to get my Master's Degree in Music/Vocal Performance at the University of Washington. I had the fun opportunity to play Poker Alice in our scenes program, Serpetta in our full opera La Finta Giardiniera, and 1st Knitter in our 1 act opera "A Game of Chance."

We'd heard a lot about the little Bavarian town of Leavenworth out in central Washington, so we took a little drive out there in December of 2008 to see it all lit up at Christmas time.

And we finished off the year with a small trip out to Vegas to use up the rest of my family's time share points.

  1. I'm impressed that you take the time to highlight your life. I wouldn't have the patience. But, it looks like you did some really fun things during the year.
