Franklin, Twin, and Snoqualmie Falls trip

These lovely ladies on the left are Myla and Kienna Hutchinson. They adore Tyler and are always asking to hold him whenever we see them at church. They've been so helpful I offered to take them out for the day to see the 3 best waterfalls along I-90 - Franklin Falls, Twin Falls, and Snoqualmie Falls.

We went to Franklin first. It was fun to hear them "ooh" and "aah" at its beauty. I love taking people to waterfalls, particularly when they've never seen one before.

The long drive was worth it for these smiles!
We enjoyed some pretty views and clear skies along the drive.

Thanks to some internet research I learned that the main trail to Twin Falls was closed due to a major washout. Fortunately the waterfalls were still accessible, but the trail getting there is considerably less pleasant. You have to hike down first and then hike up to get back, and the pathways are more narrow and less well maintained. Plus there were confusing signs that would have you believe you have to jump over the ravine to get to the trail. You start on a trail then have to walk on an old logging road for 1/3rd of a mile before you find the trail again.
Pretty shots of the upper falls.
No one was there when we arrived, so we had lots of opportunities to get good pictures. But when we started hiking back out, we saw several groups arrive, including a big group from the Boys and Girls Club. Plus we avoided some hot sun for most of our hike. We timed it perfectly.
And the main falls were as lovely as ever. It was nice to have that whole bridge to ourselves. The girls remarked that the base looked like a bear's face, which I'd never seen before but can definitely see now.

And last was beautiful Snoqualmie Falls. I didn't even bother taking my camera out here since there was so much mist that I couldn't imagine I'd get a good picture. Plus I'd seen it recently with Amy and had already taken many beautiful pictures of it with even more flow coming off of it, so I didn't think it was worth risking water damage to Oscar's phone just to get a few pictures. The girls took these pictures.

And to top off the day, we drove to XXX Root Beer for some enormous homemade Root Beer floats. The girls couldn't stop taking pictures of all the memorabilia on the walls.
It was a crazy fun day with some crazy fun girls!
